Terms of Use

The Fountain of Health’s Thrive Learning Centre offers a virtual education platform to share the science of wellbeing, brain health and behaviour change, and is intended “for individuals”, as well as “for organizations” and “for clinicians”.

For the purpose of the terms and guidelines below, any participant in the Fountain of Health’s virtual educational platform will be termed a ‘user’. Users understand that all education sessions on the Fountain of Health’s Thrive Learning Centre virtual platform are subject to our Privacy Policy, End User Licensing Agreement and the Terms of Use below:

The Fountain of Health virtual educational sessions are NOT a treatment program, do NOT offer individual health advice and are meant to provide general information only. The education sessions should not to be considered services, in lieu of or the same as individual therapy sessions. The education presenter is only in the role of a learning facilitator for the users, and is NOT in the role of treater or therapist. Users’ discussion or recommendation to other users of any medications or treatments is NOT allowed.

Fountain of Health virtual educational sessions are NOT appropriate for those in crisis or with high acuity mental health support needs. If users need immediate help during a Fountain of Health education session, users agree to call 911. If looking for non-emergency health advice, users agree to call 811 or speak with their own healthcare provider.

User Eligibility:

The Fountain of Health virtual educational sessions are all-inclusive and users are welcome to register and participate regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, or ethnicity.

The Fountain of Health’s virtual education platform “for individuals” is currently offering three programs for older adults: a 1- hour session “The Art & Science of Aging Well,” a 4-week series “Optimal Aging Workshop” and an “Optimal Aging Booster” session. In terms of age, the Fountain of Health sessions “for individuals” are recommended for users who are adults in mid-life and older.

The Fountain of Health’s 1- hour educational webinar “The Art and Science of Aging Well” is recommended for users who are adult’s mid-life and older. The 1-hour webinar should be completed before taking the 4-week “Optimal Aging Workshop” series.

The 4-week “Optimal Aging Workshop” series is intended for users who are adults in mid-life and older who have completed the 1-hour “Art & Science of Aging Well,” and who are ready to set a health goal. The “Optimal Aging Workshop” series has limited space- users should commit to attend all 4 weeks of the series. The 4 -week “Optimal Aging Workshop” series requires full user attendance-- absence of more than two sessions might lead to the user’s removal from the educational series.

Only users who complete the 1-hour “The Art and Science of Aging Well” AND the 4-week “Optimal Aging Workshop” series are eligible to register for the “Optimal Aging Booster” education sessions.

User Consent:

By joining a virtual educational session, users are providing consent to participate.

User Registration:

Registration is required for all Fountain of Health educational sessions and can be done through our designated registration page at fohwtc.ca.

Users might need to be contacted about a change in the schedule, or a technical issue during the education session. Please ensure that all user registration information is accurate and complete.

User Conduct:

All users must agree to conduct themselves in a respectful manner toward the educational facilitator(s) and one another throughout “The Art & Science of Aging Well,” “Optimal Aging Workshops”, and “Optimal Aging Booster” educational sessions. All users must not engage in any abusive, harassing, threatening, discriminatory, or inappropriate behavior. Sharing any kind of spam, irrelevant or inappropriate information will lead to removal from the platform.

Harassment, discrimination, or any form of inappropriate behavior towards other participants, staff, or facilitators will not be tolerated and may result in immediate removal from the information session.

All of the educational sessions are offered in a virtual format. In group education sessions, all participants must respect one another’s privacy, keeping all information shared as well as names and other identifiers confidential.

Users must not use any information gathered during the group educational session about other users or the facilitator for any unfair practices.

We ask that you agree to respect other users’ privacy by:

  • Not sharing the zoom meeting invite with others not part of the group;
  • Using headphones whenever possible to increase privacy;
  • Reducing distractions by putting any mobile phone away during the session.
  • Not recording the session or taking pictures.
  • Being respectful if commenting in the chat box.

In all sessions conducted via videoconferencing, each user has the responsibility to ensure the level of privacy they are most comfortable with, which might mean using aliases for names and/or making themselves available or unavailable as they wish via audio, video, and/or text chat.

Users who do not abide by these Terms of Use will be removed from the educational session by the facilitators. Depending on the gravity of the situation, the user might be denied all services from Fountain of Health.

These guidelines also apply to all Fountain of Health social media accounts and a violation may lead to blocking the user from these accounts.

Limitations of Liability:

a. “The Art and Science of Aging Well,” “Optimal Aging Workshop” series and “Optimal Aging Booster” webinars aim to provide users with valuable information about the Fountain of Health and THRIVE © Approach to Wellbeing.

b. The Fountain of Health reserves the right to modify the “The Art and Science of Aging Well,” “Optimal Aging Workshop” series and “Optimal Aging Booster” session content, schedule, or speakers without prior notice.

c. The materials, including presentations, handouts, and any other resources, are the intellectual property of the Fountain of Health and are protected by copyright laws. Participants may not reproduce or distribute these materials without prior written permission from the Fountain of Health.

d. The Fountain of Health shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from participation in an information session.

Modification or Cancellation:

a. The Fountain of Health reserves the right to modify, cancel, or reschedule “The Art and Science of Aging Well”, “Optimal Aging Workshop” series or “Optimal Aging Booster” at its sole discretion.

b. In the event of cancellation, the Fountain of Health will make reasonable efforts to notify registered participants in advance.

By registering for an education session, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to our Privacy Policy , End User Licensing Agreement and the above Terms of Use. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms and Agreement, you should not participate in Fountain of Health’s virtual education platform.
